Binfield Photography Competition 2019/2020

Binfield Photography Competition 2019/2020

As a Bracknell photographer and teacher of photography courses in Bracknell; it was a privilege to be asked to judge the Binfield photography competition in September 2019.

The competition launched in the Binfield Beacon magazine during the summer of 2019 and the local people of Binfield Village were asked to submit their photographs that the depict life in Binfield.

The entry requirements for the competition was pretty simple; submit an image of the surrounding areas on your smartphone or any other type of camera. The prize was a place on our online photography courses of which can be found on our website here.

All entries were collected, printed and hung on presentation boards at Binfield Church of England for the Binfield fete in September 2019. There were at least 50 different photographs printed and the standard of photography was extremely high. Judging took about one hour where I looked for striking images that represent Binfield village, that had personality in the image and a technically good photograph. The final images that were chosen were a range of architectural images, nature including flowers, trees and local wildlife.

As an experienced photographer and someone that has taught photography courses for years, it really is interesting to see what people think makes a good image of the village and exciting to see the creative talents from our community in photographic form. The calendar is available to purchase at £10 each and all funds raised will go to the Binfield ARC project.
